Reflecting on the Beyond Solo Project
The Postmortem: Lessons Learned and Areas for Improvement
Creating Beyond Solo, a 66-day solo TTRPG and personal growth journey, has been an enriching and enlightening experience for our team. In this developer log, we share our postmortem analysis, discussing what went right, what went wrong, and the valuable lessons we learned during the project’s development.
What Went Right:
-
Engaging Exercises and Storytelling: Our team successfully crafted engaging exercises and a captivating storytelling framework, which allowed participants to immerse themselves in a rich and vibrant world. This contributed to an enjoyable solo TTRPG experience and fostered personal growth.
-
Incorporating Journaling Techniques: Integrating journaling techniques into the program proved to be a valuable decision, as it facilitated self-reflection and self-discovery, which are essential components of personal development.
-
Emphasis on Habit Formation: Focusing on the 66-day timeline and habit formation ensured that participants experienced sustainable progress and lasting change in both their solo TTRPG adventures and personal growth journeys.
What Went Wrong:
-
Balancing Brevity and Detail: Striking the right balance between being concise and providing sufficient information proved to be challenging. We realized that our initial drafts were overly detailed, which could potentially overwhelm users. In future iterations, we will focus on simplifying and streamlining the content.
-
Customizability: Although we aimed to provide a customizable approach, we found that some users still felt limited in their ability to tailor the experience to their specific needs. We need to further enhance the program’s flexibility and adaptability.
Lessons Learned:
-
Importance of Iterative Design: Throughout the development process, we learned the value of iterative design and the necessity of refining and improving the program based on user feedback. By incorporating user insights, we can create a more user-centric and effective product.
-
Collaboration and Open Communication: We realized the importance of fostering a collaborative environment and maintaining open communication within our team. This allowed us to exchange ideas, learn from each other’s experiences, and work together more effectively.
In conclusion, the Beyond Solo project has been a rewarding learning experience for our team. We successfully created a program that combines engaging solo TTRPG adventures with personal growth, while also recognizing areas for improvement and valuable lessons learned. Moving forward, we will continue to refine and enhance Beyond Solo, incorporating user feedback and our newfound insights to create an even more compelling and transformative experience for our users.
