What's Next

An update after realizing this game, for those that are interested.

This game took longer than I thought it would. The layout and the game mechanics, as well as the flow of the game. But something that I'd like to talk about is the passion that went into this game.

Being Creative

Something that I'd like to point out when creating a solo RPG is to be creative. That means not doing things the same way everyone else does.

I've seen a lot of rehashes and a lot of people creating and copying the same thing and using the same layout. I mean that's probably what I did too but I'm talking about taking the extra steps to deliver something new and fresh such as:

  • a new theme,
  • extra mechanics
  • maybe more content,
  • better art, design, and layouts,
  • a different flow of game style,

I don't think I've added anything new to this genre, but I enjoy thinking about the possibilities of, 'what if I've added something unique?' And that is constantly in my mind.

What I've Learnt

What I learn from this game is that I learned a lot of things about myself instead of game development or game design.

I learned how to be creative. I learned how to have fun. And I learned that I'm really good at game development.

I was surprised by how much fun I had making this game. I did a lot of research and spent a lot of time on this project. The research part was really important because it requires a lot of planning, and I didn't want to miss out on anything. Which I still think I did.

There were a few things that I missed out on. The game wasn't as polished as I wanted it to be. I did try to fix it later on, but I think I might have missed a few things.

But that doesn't mean that everything is perfect. There were a few things I missed out on, but I'll be able to fix them with future updates. Such as a traveling mechanics maybe or a version 2 for each season's table.

I think the biggest mistake I made was that I didn't plan enough. I had a lot of ideas, but I didn't know how to implement them.

Updates to the game

I think I'll be able to improve this with future updates. Afterall, It's good to know what your goal is before you start making a game. You'll need a clear vision before anything else. Without that, you're not going anywhere. One of the most important lessons I've learned through this process.

Of course, I had plenty of things to do during my spare time, so I spent less time on this project.

FYI: I'm also working on another project. And also a shoutout to (still on Itchfunding) Witasy Express: https://sparuh.itch.io/witasy-express

The good news is that I put in more effort to make it as great as possible. Although I had many setbacks, I managed to finish this game within two months.

Will I ever work on this again? Probably not. Too much going on in life right now to get started on it. I'm too busy with other projects to think about updating this game. However, any feedback or comments are welcomed. I'll have some free time to update this game if there are any improvements that should be done.

I will probably go with a different type of story next time though. So feel free to give me advice on what you want to see in the next game.
