From Epic Quests to Cherished Moments

So, what exactly is Tinyoji? At its heart, it’s a love letter to the small, quiet moments that make life sweet. We drew inspiration from heartwarming stories like Hakumei to Mikochi and Studio Ghibli’s Arrietty, and the gentle pace of many beloved cozy games. But the real spark came when we asked ourselves: “What if a game wasn’t about an epic journey?” What if it focused entirely on the wonderfully mundane, everyday life of a character in a close-knit village?

That seed grew into Tinyoji – a world scaled for tiny feet, where you play as one of the miniature folk navigating life through the changing seasons. It’s about tending gardens, sharing tea, mending fences, and finding magic in the mundane. We initially explored some complex mechanics, but quickly realized that to capture that cozy, chill, easy-to-pick-up feeling – that sense of comforting nostalgia – we needed to keep things light and intuitive.

The Journey to Launch: Joy, Challenges, and Keepsakes

Every development journey has its highlights, and for us, one of the biggest joys was seeing the paperback cover come to life (the one you see on Amazon!). We absolutely adore that image. Seeing that little character, ready for her day possibly heading to market, standing confidently on a simple leaf boat with her cat companion… it just perfectly captures the spirit of handmade adventure and quiet confidence we envisioned. It felt like yes, that’s Tinyoji.

Of course, there were challenges too! The main one was designing game mechanics that felt meaningful without becoming complicated or confusing. We worked hard to streamline things, ensuring the rules supported the story rather than getting in the way. A huge part of this was the Keepsake system. We knew from the start that Keepsakes had to be integral. Think about souvenirs from a trip – they aren’t just objects; they hold memories, feelings, stories. That’s what Keepsakes are in Tinyoji. They are the cherished mementos of moments that matter, physical (or drawn!) reminders in your journal that deepen your connection to your villager’s life and help the village itself grow.

What’s Next for Sparuh?

While we’re focusing on celebrating the Tinyoji launch right now, we are busy bees behind the scenes! We’re already working on future plans, including:

• An expansion for Tinyoji itself! We’re exploring some fun new add-on mechanics, particularly focused on giving more depth and effects to upgraded Landmarks.
• Continuing development on the love-themed expansion for Solitaria.

It’s likely that one of these might bloom and be ready for release in the coming month(s)! We’ll keep you posted, but rest assured, more cozy adventures are brewing.
