Introducing No Ruto - A New Journaling Adventure Born from the Witasy Express

Greetings, creative travelers! We’re delighted to announce the official launch of our latest immersive solo journaling experience - No Ruto! No Ruto expands the rich world first explored in our previous title Witasy Express. This new imaginative voyage puts players in the shoes of a bright-eyed new graduate, ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery via the magical Witasy Express train.

We’re adding 10 more community copies to Witasy Express to celebrate this new release and will be adding 5 or more community copies for No Ruto once the Amazon product link is approved.

Our goal with No Ruto was crafting an accessible journaling game focused on lightweight, weekly bullet-style play rather than dense mechanics. Players simply roll dice for prompts and respond creatively through daily journal entries. Over months of real-time adventure, these snippets organically unveil a unique narrative tailored by each writer.

Despite the straightforward gameplay, No Ruto still delivers the rich reflective journaling experience our community loves. The writing prompts are designed to kickstart your creativity in new directions. You control where the tracks twist next!

We also wanted No Ruto to further develop Witasy’s vibrant world with new characters and lands to uncover. For fans of Witasy Express, you’ll find nods to familiar lore as well as fresh perspectives to explore. Newcomers can easily climb aboard too!

Under the hood, No Ruto establishes a modular framework we aim to build upon with new themes and gameplay ideas. Consider this first version the core journaling engine - no complex rules, just rolling dice and writing imaginatively. Your creativity steers the adventure.

Beyond the digital release, a physical copy of No Ruto is currently under review for distribution via Amazon - we know many players still love that tactile journal format. We can’t wait to get these books into your hands!

We hope No Ruto inspires your imagination wherever the rails lead you. Your creativity and passion drive everything we do. As always, let us know your thoughts and how we can craft even better journaling experiences together!

Now then, the Witasy Express whistle beckons - your next great adventure awaits!

Hello :) I am unsure how selecting a Special Ability works...Step 9 of character creation says to 'record your characters special action', which implies you have one; but in the Path sections it says 'choose one per settlement'. Do I start with one, and then gain one each time I reach a settlement? Do I have access to all of them, but can only use one per settlement like the 'Between Stops' events?

Hello there! 👋

Thank you so much for reaching out—that is a really great question. I can see how Step 9 might look a little contradictory at first glance compared to the Traveler Type pages!

You hit the nail on the head with your second guess. You absolutely have access to the full list of abilities for your Traveler Type.

Think of Step 9 as an optional step. It is simply there to prompt you to write down the ability you have access to, and note the page number where your abilities are listed. This way, you have a quick reference in your journal and don’t have to keep flipping back and forth in the rulebook while you’re in the “flow” of writing.

So, here is how it works in practice:

  1. The Toolkit: You have your whole list of special actions available to you (e.g., Beginner’s Luck, Unexpected Resource, etc.).
  2. The Choice: When you arrive at a Settlement, you pick one action from that list to use for that stay. (This is optional and you can skip this stage).
  3. The Record: In your journal (Step 9), you can quickly apply the effect of the abilities because you know where to look.

You are not locked into one ability forever; you can use a different one at the next Settlement.

I hope that clears it up! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you :) I only just realised i had posted this in the wrong place! It was supposed to be on the Witasy Express listing. Sorry about that!

No worries at all! It happens to the best of us. Glad we could help you out regardless!
